New Visual Designer for Business Rules in Dynamics 365

In Dynamics 365 we have new visual designer for Business Rules (and Business Process Flows).

Condition and Actions can be added through Add button or dragged and dropped

Conditions and Action can be copied, cut. delete and pasted in designer window.

Snapshot creates a snapshot of the business rules. (image file with png extension)

Conditions can be defined in the Properties window

Still we can only specify either Add or OR conditions

Changing it to OR replaces AND condition

May be in future release we’d have that feature as well.

Hope it helps..

  1. In the older version, I was able to, for example, add Lock steps for fields without adding an initial Condition. This allowed me to control Read-Only fields from a Business Rule rather than from the field properties. Without adding an initial Condition, the fields I set to be locked would always be locked on an open form. It appears this is not possible now. I could probably set the condition to “If Owner Contains Data” but that’s one extra thing I need to do to accomplish this.

Also. how will my current Business Rules upgrade to Dynamics 365 from 2016 with no initial condition?
